A close relative of a 10-year-old girl is now in Police custody after he allegedly raped her while she was left in his care. The child of North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini) was reportedly left unconscious after the incident.
Based on the Police report, the incident took place on Wednesday. After the man committed the act, he reportedly threatened to kill the child if she reported the matter to anyone.
Nevertheless, the violated child confided in her grandmother, who immediately made a report with the authorities. The victim was later escorted to the hospital, where she was examined and a medical certificate was obtained.
Meanwhile, swift actions by the Police led to the arrest of the man who remains in custody. He is expected to be charged shortly.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a 12-year-old girl of NWD is pregnant after she was allegedly raped by a man over several months.
it was reported that the incident took place in 2020. The Police have since confirmed that the girl is five months pregnant.
On Monday, Police stated that ranks attached to the Matthews Ridge Police Station, acting on information, visited the victim where she related what had transpired.
She was subsequently taken to the hospital where a medical certificate was acquired. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
