$100,000 bail for bus driver charged with child rape

Vishnu Persaud, called Amit, was released on $100,000 bail for rape of a child under 16 when he appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court. When the 34-year-old minibus driver stood before presiding Magistrate Annette Singh, he denied the allegation that he committed the illegal act on the underage child.
After the defendant was granted his pre-trial liberty, the matter was transferred to the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court for statements. Persaud is scheduled to make his next court appearance on February 5.
