Police in Regional Division Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) conducted a road block exercise on Friday between 17:10 and 18:15h, during which 25 motor vehicles were stopped and searched, and five persons were arrested.
It was reported that those who were taken into custody were a 30-year-old unemployed male of Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje Berbice – for being an unlicensed driver; a 20-year-old self-employed male of Section “B” Albion, Corentyne Berbice – who was arrested for tinted motor vehicle; and a 26-year-old unemployed male of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam Berbice – who was taken into custody for arrest warrant and pending investigation of an alleged robbery-under-arms.
In addition, a cordon-and-search exercise was carried out at Pitt Street, New Amsterdam, and a 36-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were arrested for possession of narcotics.
Also, six other persons were arrested for failing to wear face masks.
