The Unity Cup organized by the Guyana Softball League continued in the various areas, despite the inclement weather making it a challenge for the areas to complete the various rounds.
Results are as follows:
Upper East Coast:
Cane Grove defeated Helena Stars by 5 wkts:
Helena Stars won the toss and batted, scoring 113-7 in 10 overs (Avinash Singh 42(3×6; 2×4); Mahesh Boodram picked up 3-32 in 2 overs. In reply, Cane Grove found their groove after stuttering initially, and reached 114-5 in 9 overs; with Onkar Narine blasting 47, which included 5 massive sixes. Morris Jones supported with 40 (4×6), and Extras were a healthy 18. No bowler was spared.
Adventure defeated Good Hope XI by a massive 94 runs:
Adventure batted first and amassed 183-7 in 10 overs, with Ramkumar Jairam scoring a scintillating 67 (8×6) and Seon Smith 53 (4×6). These players ran riot over the Hapless Good Hope bowling. Good Hope, in their turn, were so shell-shocked they could muster only 89 all out in 7 overs.
Unstoppable defeated Unity Farmers by 8 wkts:
Farmers batted first and scored 93 all out in 9.5 overs, with Troy Ford (2-7) and Sean Bristol (4-29) ripping the heart out of the batting. In reply, Unstoppable cruised to 94 for the loss of two wickets, with Kumar Persaud scoring 40 (4×6).
Lower East Coast/Georgetown/East Bank/Linden:
Success Enforcers defeated Success Warriors by 6 wkts:
Warriors batted first and made 117-7 in 10 overs, with Dinesh John contributing 51 (5×6; 1×4). Saif Zobia took 2-14 from 2 overs. Davendra Deosarran also contributed with the ball, taking 2-16 from his 2 overs.
Farm XI, playing unbeaten, defeated Success Youths by 5 wkts:
Success Youths batted first and scored a meagre 60 all out in 8.4 overs, with Joseph Ramlall scoring 21 not out (2×6). Bowling for Farm was Rawle Reid, who took 4-17 from 2 overs. Sheldon Adams supported with 2-19 from his 2 overs.
N/A /Canje:
Edinburgh defeated N/A Rising Stars by 16 runs:
Edinburgh batted first and made 109-4 in 10 overs:
Keshan Yadram top scored with 21(2×6; 1×4). In reply, N/A Rising Stars were limited to 93-4 in their 10 overs. Romel Dagiar with 47 (4×6; 2×4) offered some hope, but with the fall of his wicket, going for a slog and being caught on the long on boundary, everything went downhill.
Rotterdam defeated Angoy’s Avenue by 62 runs in a nail-biter:
Rotterdam batted first, but were limited to 46 – 4 in their overs. Michael Adams top scored with 16 (1×6). In reply, Angoy’s Avenue, somewhat complacent, were bundled out for 44 in their overs.
West Coast Demerara:
Speedboat defeated Diesel XI by 29 runs.
Speedboat batted first and made 122-5 in 10 overs. Anand Bharat top scored with 39(5×6). Diesel, in reply, were held to 93-7 in their 10 overs.
VR Squad defeated Marics XI by 5 runs:
Marics XI were invited to bat, and were limited to 60 all out in 9.3 overs. In reply VR Squad made 65-5 in 7 overs.
Unknown Squad defeated Rangers by 39 runs. The Unknown squad batted first and compiled 125-8 in 10 overs. In reply Rangers, playing a very youthful and inexperienced squad, were limited to 86 all out in 8 overs.
Bar-B-Q XI defeated Unknown Squad by 24 runs. Bar-B-Q XI batted first and made 130 all out in 10 overs
In reply, Unknown Squad, playing their second game of the day, were limited to 105 in their 10 overs, making it a one-win-one-loss day.
VR All Stars defeated Rangers by 8 wkts.
Rangers XI batted first and made 84 all out in 9 overs. In reply, VR All Stars raced to 90-2 in 4 overs.
