11 to vie for Calypso Monarch this evening

After an exciting semifinal, 11 Calypsonians will take to the stage of the National Park Tarmac on Friday evening for the grand showdown.
Ten of the 11 competing in the semis sang their way into the final where they will compete with reigning Calypso Monarch, Onicka Joseph, who is set to defend her title.
The senior people are all ready ‘to come hard or go home’ and without a doubt, will put of a show for calypso lovers.
Those vying for the title are Rudolph Kendall, Cromwell Mentis, Dawn Edwards, Abigail James, Diana Chapman, Roger Hinds, Ingrid Harris, Kenroy Fraser, Jamal Stuart and Samantha Grant. The 10 artistes are presently making sure that their props are in order for the grand finale.
However, the excitement starts at 19:00h with strict security around the venue. This is one of the major events planned for the Mashramani celebrations on a yearly basis. It is sponsored by the Social Cohesion Ministry in collaboration with Banks DIH Limited.
