11th Titan Bowl basketball championships: Bishops’, Linden Technical Institute contest finals

Bishops’ High School and Linden Technical Institute opposed each other on Friday, December 15, for championship honours in the 11th Titan Bowl basketball contest at the National Gymnasium. It was typically a day of sensational action as had been showcased in the semifinal played on 14th December 2023. Full details will be published in the Sunday Times newspaper.
Teams from the mining town of Linden gave spectators a glimpse of the national talent when Linden Technical Institute upset the young and upcoming Kwakwani Secondary.
At the end of the first quarter, LTI prevailed by a scoreline of 38-21.
In the second quarter, the Kwakwani team put up a respectable fight, with national basketball player Kasim English being the pillar of their attack. He scored 18 points, but that was not enough to prevent Linden Technical Institute from winning that quarter by a scoreline of 51-48. LTI’s top scorer Kellon Phillips registered a phenomenal 20 points.
In the second semifinal, The Bishops High School were the powerhouses, defeating President’s College in the first quarter 22-5.
Bishops continued to outshine Presidents College in the second quarter, and went on to win the game 36-12.
Bishops have secured their place in the finals, and came up against Linden Technical Institute on Friday 15th December at the same venue.
