Home News 123rd ICT hub launched at Cumberland
The Public Telecommunication Ministry on Thursday last opened an ICT Hub at Cumberland, East Canje, Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne making it the 123rd in the country thus far.
Minister Catherine Hughes speaking at the launch of the facility at the Ordnance Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) building noted that the computers are for everyone to use and urged persons to make full use of them.
“It is no good of us having the technology, having the computers, having the free internet access and nobody comes to use it.”
Hughes added that at the end of the year a team will visit the information technology hubs to conduct training programs for interested persons.
Meanwhile, Director of Community Development and Social Management, Phillip Walcott noted that the department continues to partner with communities and organisations as they work to provide Government services to the people of Guyana.
“Without your support, without your partnership, without your cooperation, we could not have been standing here on behalf of the NDMA, and the Ministry of Public Telecommunication,” Walcott stated.
While the Public Telecommunication Ministry through its NDMA department has provided laptop computers and an internet service for the functioning of the computer center, special thanks were extended to the Rotary Club of New Amsterdam.
