14-year-old boy vanishes after visiting friend

Fourteen-year-old Christopher Basdeo, of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), disappeared on Wednesday after he reportedly left home to visit a friend’s house.

Missing: Christopher Baldeo

On the day he disappeared, the teen who attends the Goed Fortuin Secondary School, returned home but left soon after claiming that he was going to visit a friend at his home.
“Wednesday afternoon he came home from school and he said he going by a friend. And I haven’t seen him back up to now,” his mother, Debbie Basdeo related.
According to the worried woman, her son would never stay away from home for such a long period. Basdeo is the youngest of four siblings.
“He would always come home. Sometimes he would go by his sister around the corner and he would sleep there. Then he would come home in the morning and go to school,” she added.
She said there was confirmation that her son did visit the said friend, but there were no clues what happened after he left that home.
She is pleading for anyone with information that would help them to locate her son to come forward or contact the nearest Police Station.
Guyana Times understands that a report was made to the Police and persons were taken into custody for questioning in relation to the teen’s disappearance. Efforts to contact officials from the Police Force for a comment on the situation proved futile.
Last month, a 14-year-old girl, also of Parfaite Harmonie, had disappeared after she was last seen by her mother in the vicinity of the Vreed-en-Hoop Junction.
According to the woman, the teen had just left school and as such, she journeyed to the Vreed-en-Hoop Junction to pick her up. The woman relayed that the missing teen called her on her cellphone and told her that she was going to cross the road at the junction to purchase something to drink.
After parking, the woman exited her vehicle and walked back to the spot where she last saw her daughter but to her dismay, the young woman had disappeared. She later made contact with relatives.
