14-year-old hospitalised after being taken unconscious to Sophia

Police are investigating an incident involving a 14-year-old female student of East Bank Demerara who was taken to Sophia, Georgetown, in an unconscious state.
According to preliminary investigations, the teenager was transported in an unconscious state by other juveniles to a residence in Sophia at about 18:00h on Wednesday. She was later escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she was admitted for medical care. Hospital officials confirmed that the teen is now conscious and in stable condition.
Initial enquiries indicated that the student was in the company of the juveniles prior to becoming unconscious. Allegations have also been made that alcohol may have been consumed during that time. Police said no arrests have been made so far. Police said that several individuals have been interviewed as investigations continue, and efforts are ongoing to locate three juveniles who were reportedly present during the incident.
