14-year-old injured in accident with Opposition Leader’s vehicle

Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon’s vehicle that collided with three others at Mon Repos, ECD

A vehicle belonging to Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon was involved in a four-car collision at Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) leaving a teenager injured.
Police said that the accident occurred about 20:15h. According to Police, motor lorry GZZ 4852, minibus BJJ 5402, motor van GNN 6734 and motor vehicle PTT 8491 were all involved in the accident.
According to Police, the motor lorry was parked facing west on the northern side of the southern carriageway and the minibus had stopped on the southern side of the southern carriageway awaiting the changing of the traffic light. Police added that the motor van was facing North, coming out of Mon Repos Access Road and was also awaiting the changing of the light, which the motor vehicle, PTT 8491, which was proceeding west on Mon Repos Public Road ran into the three other vehicles.
Motor vehicle PTT 8491 belongs to Harmon.

As a result of the collision, a 14-year-old male passenger of Linden received injuries about his body. The minor was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor on duty, treated and sent away. Guyana Times has since confirmed that Harmon was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Meanwhile, a breath alcohol test was conducted on all four of the drivers. It was found that the driver of the Opposition Leader’s vehicle test gave a reading of 400 per cent while the other drivers’ readings were zero per cent alcohol.
