15 Early Savers Club members awarded for NGSA success
GBTI grants bursaries
The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited (GBTI) on Wednesday awarded bursaries to 15 members of the Early Savers Club who were successful in the recently concluded National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), as a part of their initiative towards contributing to the ongoing educational success of youths today.
GBTI congratulated the recipients and encouraged them to grasp available educational opportunities of the day while focusing on achieving good results through hard work, consistency and commitment.

The senior Manager-Administration, Sean Noel, in his charge to the students, urged the youngsters to face their secondary years with much enthusiasm, while stressing on discipline as a vital part of the journey.
According to Noel, secondary learning constitutes a different level of education with a much broader focus, thus requiring much commitment and focus. In the same breath, he was quick to point out that there should be a balance between learning and recreation, as he encouraged the awardees to “have fun” and make “happy memories” of their secondary years.
In attendance at the presentation ceremony was Senior Education Officer- Mathematics Department, Ameer Ali, who echoed the sentiments of Noel as he dubbed the awardees as henceforth being “ambassadors of GBTI”; urging them to promote competition and “lead from the front”.
The bursary awardees are Gabriella Roberts, Shelby Gomes, Shailendra Seenarine and Marlon Benn of Queen’s College; Leonard Grant of St John’s College; Leonardo Juan of St Rose’s High School; Ryea Algu of Bygeval Secondary; Saif Khan of The Bishops’ High School; Carey Sutherland, Navita Rafick and Deonarine Dukharan of St Joseph High School; Oma Seeraj of North Georgetown Secondary and Shaquan Adams of Patentia Secondary.
Shania Andrews who was the only candidate selected from the company’s Corriverton branch also received her grant during a similar function held at the Berbice location on Wednesday.
The GBTI ‘Early Savers Club’ is a unique account that enables its members to appreciate the habit of saving.
