Home News 150 persons to be hired at GYSBI career fair
As the demand for labour increases within the growing oil and gas sector, the Guyana Shore Base Inc (GYSBI) has announced an upcoming career fair, with hopes of hiring some 150 persons.
The career fair will be held at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Thursday, October 7; at Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara (WCD) on Friday, October 6 and at Enmore-Haslington, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Saturday, October 16 from 10:00h to 17:00h (10:00am to 5:00pm).
The positions to be filled include: warehouse supervisors, crane operators, operations assistants, equipment mechanics/technicians, and fuel storage and dispensing operators.
Additionally, interested applicants are asked to walk with their resumes, any academic certificates, a copy of a valid form of ID, and one passport photograph.
In keeping with the COVID-19 protocols, only persons with a vaccination card or a negative PCR test from within the last seven days will be able to gain entry, a first step in increasing their chances of being employed.
With almost 500 employees, GYSBI has already achieved 97 per cent local content.
GYSBI Government Liaison Officer Rabin Chandarpal, speaking about the upcoming career fair, said: “Our people take pride in their work and understand their impact on the local community. As one of the largest employers in oil and gas in Guyana, with a 97 per cent local workforce, we are proud to showcase Guyanese talent.”
