Home News 16-year-old remanded for farmer’s murder
A teenager was on Thursday remanded to the Juvenile Detention Centre after he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Thursday to answer to a murder charge.
The 16-year-old was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on October 12, 2016, during a drunken quarrel, he murdered Abraham Wilson, a farmer, at Cacique Creek, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini) and then fled the scene.
The court heard that on the day in question, Wilson and the teen were imbibing when the argument between the two began. The young man reportedly stabbed Wilson to the left side of his neck then left the man to bleed to death as he went into hiding.
However, with his little strength, the now dead man allegedly ran across to a nearby mining camp where he managed to relate to them what had transpired, before succumbing to his injuries.
It was only recently that Police were able to apprehend the suspect after he was detained by a North West District village leader.
The accused is expected to re-appear in court on November 17.
