17 children now equipped for online learning compliments of Entertainment592
In observance of its third anniversary, Entertainment592 on Saturday donated 17 electronic tablets to children to aid in online classes, which has become the new norm since the discovery of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The company’s CEO, Odelyn Parker, a journalist at the National Communication Network (NCN), said that Entertainment592 is not only about hosting and covering social events, but also about giving back to the community.
According to her, Entertainment592 is cognisant of the effects the pandemic has placed on learning, especially on children whose parents cannot afford to provide them with tools for online learning, be it a laptop, tablet computer, or internet connection.
In this regard, she said that the company partnered with several other stakeholders to ensure that these children are not left behind with their schooling. The CEO explained that the company reached out to those who are in need of equipment to access learning.
Entertainment592 Public Relations Officer, Odacia Forde said “The pandemic came unexpected and as such schools are closed. So, the next best thing is to ensure that students are a part of online learning.”
Speaking specifically to the students, she added, “We want to ensure that you get to tap in with your schools so that you would get to complete whatever work they are giving. We are hoping that you leave here motivated to be a part of your classroom. And with that same motivation, you complete what needs to be done. Make sure that you care it because we do not know how long the pandemic will be here.”
The CEO extended gratitude to Patrick Joseph, Duck and Drake Promotions, Collin Haynes, Renwick Duesbury, Natasha Goodridge, Xpress Delivery Service, Marlon Pearson, Deborah Shortt-Parker, and to the many other sponsors who may have assisted in making the venture a success.
Since the pandemic, Entertainment592 has been hosting several virtual parties as it aims to keep Guyanese entertained while adhering to the safety guidelines to curb the spread of the virus. Its mission is to provide wholesome entertainment and to edify its followers on the beauty of Guyana and all it has to offer.
