17th Annual Lake Mainstay Regatta & Stage Show for August 13

The 17th Annual Lake Mainstay Regatta & Stage Show is set for Sunday, August 13 at the magnificent freshwater lake along the Essequibo Coast. The main attraction will be the “clash of the daredevils” and will feature Neil Gonsalves and team from Essequibo and Dave Scott and team from Bartica.
On the day of the event, there will be 13 categories of power boat racing. These include the 3-15 HP; 2-40 HP; 3-90 HP; 2-200 HP and 3-Open HP for male and females.
In addition, there will be the 1-200 metres male and female canoe races and the 1-200m race for swimmers. There will also be a memorial race in the 90-HP category in honour of Orin Bell who lost his life a few years ago.
While it will be fun on the water top, more than $3 million in cash prizes and trophies will be up for grabs.
Meanwhile, after the races, all attention will be placed on the stage show and beach party with live performances by some of Guyana’s best artistes.
These include Blaze Anthonio, Roger Bowen, Bunty Singh, Kadi Kish, Trevon Vibez, Poonam Singh and Aamir Khan. The emcee for the evening will be Lyndon “Jumbie” Jones. Also in the house will be the Pream’s Mega Sound and Essequibo’s top deejays.
During the day, there will be the children fun park comprising merry-go-round, trampoline and bouncy castle attractions.
There will be several well-stocked food and drinks bars. Admission for the event cost $1000 for adults and $500 for children. More at the gate and the action kicks off at 10:00h.
