19-year-old ordered to pay foster mother

A man was ordered to pay 0,000 to his foster mother after he pleaded guilty to stealing a number of household items in 2014, which amounted to 2,000.

Should Rondell Richard, 19, of Lot 6 Tucville, Georgetown, fail to pay the sum ordered by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, a 12-month sentence will be implemented.

It was alleged that between April 21 and August 6, 2014 at Port Kaituma Water Front, he broke and entered the dwelling place of Sabatree Harricharran and stole a number of household items.

When the Chief Magistrate enquired from the Police about the lengthy delay in bringing the lad before the court, it was revealed that they were unable to locate him for the past two years.

In response to the Chief Magistrate’s question to the accused about why he committed the crime, he responded that he was young and at that time and was trying to start a new life on his own.

He further explained that he was only in possession of a few of the items, since people would also break and enter his premises at Port Kaituma, while he is at work.
