2 arrested following Meten-Meer-Zorg robbery

Shortly after terrorising and robbing four West Coast Demerara (WCD) residents on Tuesday evening along the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, the Police arrested two persons suspected to have been involved in the crime.

Based on information received, about 18:30h, Shiradatt Ramlall,25, of Railway View, Meten-Meer- Zorg; Aneela Raghemoudan, 33, a housewife of Leonora Seafield; Paul Jaipaul, 25, of Meten-Meer-Zorg and Lohouna Rakesh Pitamber, 29, also of Meter-Meer-Zorg, were relieved of their personal belongings by two men on a red and white XR motorcycle.
Police investigations revealed that the victims were heading home when they were confronted by the two men.
During the ordeal, one of the men whipped out a silver object suspected to be a handgun and dealt Ramlall, Jaipaul and Pitamber several blows to their faces after they reportedly put up a fight.
However, Ramlall was eventually relieved of his mobile phones while Raghemoudan was relieved of her mobile phone and cash.
In addition, Jaipaul was robbed of a gold band and ring along with his mobile phone. The fourth victim, Pitamber was relieved of his mobile phone and cash.
After committing the robbery, the men made good their escape on the motorcycle.
A report was subsequently lodged and acting on information received, Police ranks went to the area where they intercepted two residents of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBD) with a motorcycle fitting the description of the one used by the men who committed the robbery.
The two young men were taken into custody and are assisting with the investigations.
