2 arrested for allegedly discharging loaded firearms

Two men were taken into Police custody after they reportedly discharged loaded firearms indiscriminately on Sunday morning in the vicinity of Farm Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara. The incident was reported to the Police at about 06:30h.
Ranks from the Providence Police Station responded to the report and upon their arrival at the location, two cars were seen parked at the location. During a search of the vehicles and the drivers, the Police found two live .9mm rounds, one in each car.
The Police also found two spent shells of the same calibre next to one of the vehicles but there were no signs of any firearms.
The two men, ages 30 and 21 of Herstelling Housing Scheme, and of Farm Squatting Area respectively, were arrested and are assisting with the investigation.
The men are not licensed firearm holders.
