Two persons are now in Police custody in connection with the murder of a Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara (WCD) pensioner, who was brutally stabbed to death.
The body of Bibi Keniez, 65, was found in her home on Monday just after midday.
According to Police’s D Division (West Demerara) Commander, Leslie James, the two men were arrested and are being interrogated by Police.
Based on information reaching Guyana Times, Keniez was found with stab wounds to her abdomen.
From all indications, the killing of the woman was as a result of a robbery gone bad as her small wooden house was ransacked.
The Police are continuing their investigations.
Only recently, acting Police Commissioner David Ramnarine disclosed that during the period of January 1 to September 23, serious crimes had declined by 19 per cent compared to the same period last year.
This, he noted, was as a result of an 11 per cent decrease in murder – 99 cases so far this year compared to 111 last year over the same period.
