2 arrested with ganja during CANU operations

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) during several operations between Friday and Saturday at Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and Wismar, Linden unearthed 2.401 kilograms of cannabis.

CANU, in a release, stated that one man of Mile Extension, Wismar was arrested in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge with a salt bag containing five parcels of cannabis.

In addition, another man called “Pappy”, of Half Mile, Wismar, Linden, was arrested after a search at a house in Block 22 Wismar, unearthed several Ziplock bags and a black plastic bag containing a quantity of cannabis concealed in a speaker box.
Both men were arrested and taken to CANU headquarters, where the ganja was weighed. The cannabis discovered at the Demerara Harbour Bridge when weighed amounted to 2.280 grams, while the cannabis discovered in Linden weighed 121.4 grams.
Both men remain in Police custody pending charges.
