A 24-year-old Guyanese mechanic, along with a 23-year-old female Venezuelan national, was taken into Police custody after ranks swooped down on them at the Bartica Stelling, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) and discovered narcotics hidden in their belongings.
According to information received, ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) acting on information received, turned up at the Bartica Stelling around 21:00h and intercepted the duo. They then conducted a search on their belongings.
Following the search, a total of 2670 grams of suspected cannabis, which had been concealed in several taped parcels, was unearthed.
According to a Police source, the 24-year-old reportedly told investigators that a man he identified as “Gully” packed their belongings and requested that they take the substance to his father who resided in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
