2 charged for assault, damage to property

Shadah Alexander of East Ruimveldt appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Friday to answer to charges of damage to property and assault.
He appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly, where the first charge read to him stated that on February 15, 2021, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged one Alcatel cellular phone valued at $15,000, property of Akeem George.
In addition, the second charged further detailed that on the same day and place, he assaulted George.
Alexander pleaded guilty to the assault charge while denying the damage to property charge.
He was fined $5000 for the assault charge and was granted self-bail for the damage to property charge. Alexander is set to return to court on April 12, 2021.
Meanwhile, Alvin Adbool Grannum also found himself before Magistrate Daly and was slapped with a fine for an alleged assault committed on Lesley Hope.
The charge stated that on January 22, 2021, at Garnett Street Kitty, while in the company of an identifiable male, Grannum pulled Hope off his bicycle, threw him onto the ground and dealt him several cuffs about his body.
Grannum pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a fine of $10,000 with an alternative of one week’s imprisonment.
