Two men who stole raw gold and other items from their employer were on Monday placed before the courts charged with larceny.
Marky Williams, 23, and Oneal Melbourne, 19, both appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them.
Police stated that on January 9, 2017 at Kamarang, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) they stole four magic max (a device used by miners) valued $100,000 and 11 pennyweights of raw gold valued $110,000, property of Edwin Best. According to the prosecution, the items were recovered at Kamarang and, as such, there was no objection to bail, which was granted in the sum of $15,000 each.
The matter was transferred to the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court for March 21, 2017.
