Cops under close arrest over rape allegations

Two Police Constables have been confirmed to be presently under close arrest as Police probe a rape allegation made against them.
The alleged rape incident occurred on New Year’s Day at the Turkeyen Police Station. This was confirmed by C Division (East Coast Demerara) Commander Calvin Brutus.
Reports surrounding the incident revealed that the victim, a 22-year-old female, was at the time using the washroom facilities at the Police Station, being there to make a Police report when she was allegedly attacked.
The woman is reporting that she went to the Station to make a report regarding a squib which was thrown on her son.
However while there, she requested to use the washroom at the Station and while inside the said washroom, the men reportedly pounced on her.
It was also confirmed that the traumatised woman reported the matter to a senior official who directed her as to what procedure should be followed.
The ranks, however, are maintaining their innocence in the matter and have given a different account of what they said actually took place.
The matter is being investigated.
