2 cops granted bail on drug trafficking charge

Two Policemen were each released on $100,000 bail on Friday after denying a joint drug trafficking charge when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Charged are: Corporal Kevin Bobb, 38, of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) and Lance Corporal Andre Roland, 25, of Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
They were arraigned before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.
It is alleged that on June 14, 2022, at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown, they had 680 grams of cannabis sativa in their possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both of them pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Policemen were allegedly caught trying to smuggle the illicit drug into CID Headquarters. The conditionalities attached to bail is that they report to the Police Force’s Major Crimes Investigation Unit every other Monday until the hearing and determination of their trial.
The matter was adjourned until October 7, 2022.
