Turkeyen Police Station rape
Two Policemen who allegedly raped a woman who had gone to the Turkeyen Police Station to report a matter are expected to be formally charged following advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The incident is said to have occurred on New Years’ Day when the Sophia, Greater Georgetown, woman made her report and then requested to utilise a restroom to relief herself while at the station. Instead of pointing the woman to the right restroom which is often utilised by members of the public, she was directed to another and more discreet washroom when the Policemen allegedly pounced on her and raped her. The file was returned to the Police containing advice to institute rape charges against the two accused on Wednesday. Following the report of the rape, the ranks were transferred to the Tactical Services Unit (TSU), where they remain under close arrest.
