A brawl among a group of men along Water Street, Georgetown, on Friday has left two men dead and another being taken into custody. The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old Junior Browne, a vendor of Corentyne, Berbice, and 36-year-old Tyrone Captain of Eversham Village, Corentyne, Berbice. Based on reports received, the incident occurred at about 09:30h in the vicinity of Bounty Supermarket on Water Street. Police have confirmed that Browne sustained one stab wound to his neck. In an attempt to escape his attacker, he ran a short distance but collapsed and died.

On the other hand, Captain, who was stabbed to his neck and chest, died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Following the incident, a 29-year-old salesman of Industry, East Coast Demerara, was taken into custody.
A knife suspected to be the murder weapon was reportedly recovered at the scene. Investigations into the fatal incident are underway.
