Two East Coast Demerara (ECD) residents were fined after pleading guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol when they appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Omesh Deodat, a 21-year-old resident of Atlantic Gardens, and Sebastian De Freitas, a 35-year-old resident of Earl’s Court, La Bonne Intention, were both arrested on Monday and were subsequently charged. They appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs, where the charges were read to them. Each accused pleaded guilty to the offence. They were each fined $200,000.
