2 homeless as Enmore house goes up in flames

Two persons were rendered homeless after a fire, which is suspected to have started by a kerosene stove, completely gutted the wooden structure on Saturday evening. Based on reports received, the fire started at about 20:30h and quickly spread through the structure located at Estate Road, Enmore, East Coast Demerara.
Guyana Times understands that there was no electricity supply attached to the house at the time of the fire. Speaking with this publication, Fire Chief Marlon Gentle explained that the investigations have so far revealed that the fire might have started from a kerosene stove since the occupants were cooking at the time.
Upon seeing the fire, the two occupants reportedly attempted to put out the blaze but it spread rapidly. As such, the two persons ran to safety and raised an alarm.
By the time the fire tenders arrived at the scene, the building was completely gutted. The occupants were unable to salvage any household items.
An investigation is continuing into the fire.
