Home News 2 injured in 3-vehicle collision at Mocha
Two persons, including a school child, were injured on Friday following a three-vehicle collision along the Mocha Access Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD). Among those injured is a taxi driver identified as Davindra Premnauth.
He reportedly suffered a broken leg, lacerations to the body and minor head injuries. The child, who was in the vehicle driven by Premnauth, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted.
Based on reports received, the taxi bearing registration number HC 3999 was on its way out of Diamond, EBD, when another vehicle with registration plates PVV 6845 which was in front of it suddenly pulled to the corner of the roadway, forcing the taxi driver to overtake.
In the process of overtaking, Premnauth hit PVV 6845, causing him to lose control of his motor vehicle which resulted in him going into the opposite lane where he collided with the right front of a motor lorry, GVV 8446.
The child and the driver from the taxi were pulled from the wreckage by public spirited citizens and rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre. The child however, was in an unconscious state upon arrival at hospital.
The wrecked vehicle was towed to the Providence Police Station as Police continue their investigations.
