2 injured in Corentyne accident

Two men have been injured after the car in which they were travelling crashed into a culvert at Number 70 Village, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Injured are hire car driver 38-year-old Ulric Ramkishun of Queenstown Corriverton, Berbice and 23-year-old Methuselah John of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Reports are that the accident occurred at about 20:37h on Tuesday. The Police have said that motorcar HC 9885 was being driven by Ramkishun while John, an Ogle Airport Security guard, was a passenger in the vehicle.
According to Police, Ramkishun was proceeding north along the western drive lane of the Number 70 Public Road at a fast rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and it collided with a culvert and the ridge of two bridges on the eastern side of the road. As a result, the vehicle turned turtle and came to a stop on the eastern parapet.
Both the driver and passenger received injuries about their bodies, and were taken out of the vehicle in a semi-conscious condition by public-spirited citizens before being rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital.
They were examined and referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where they were again examined by doctors and admitted as patients.
John sustained a fractured left shoulder while Ramkishun sustained injuries to his left shoulder, left foot and spine. He has been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is receiving further treatment.
