2 injured in separate EBD accidents

A pensioner sustained a fractured right hip after he was struck down by a motor car along the Diamond Access Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Saturday last.
Injured is 63-year-old Phillip Simons of Lot 670 Golden Grove, EBD.
Based on reports received, the now injured man was riding his pedal cycle along the Diamond Access Road about 17:45h on the day in question when a motor car hit him from behind.
As a result of the impact, the man as well as his cycle fell to the grass parapet, and he sustained injuries to his head and right leg. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted to the male surgical ward.
Upon further examination, it was revealed that he suffered a fractured hip. The motor vehicle that was involved in the accident is yet to be intercepted.
Meanwhile, the Police have launched an investigation into another serious accident, which took place in the wee hours of Sunday along the Prospect Public Road, EBD. The accident involved a motor car bearing registration number PCC 6296 driven by Mark Anthony Singh, 26, of Covent Garden, EBD.
Police stated that Singh was proceeding along the Prospect Public Road reportedly at a fast pace when he lost control of the motor car and crashed into the concrete median.
As a result, Singh received multiple injuries. He was pulled from the wreckage in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted.
His condition is regarded as serious but stable.
