2 injured in WCD accident

Two persons had to be rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital on Friday afternoon after they were involved in a two vehicle collision at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
The two persons, identified only as a school girl and the driver of the motorcar, are said to be in critical condition. According to reports, the accident occurred at about 13:30h.
Reports are sketchy but from information received, a minibus was travelling to Georgetown when a motorcar travelling in the opposite direction crashed into it.
An eyewitness revealed that the minibus had stopped to put off a passenger when the accident occurred.
The injured driver of the motorcar is said to have been under the influence of alcohol and presumably lost control of his vehicle.
“I was sitting at the post office when I heard a loud bang and upon inspection, I saw the car turtling three times before coming to a halt on its side,” Laurine Medas, an eyewitness said.
Medas further disclosed that several persons who witnessed the accident rendered assistance and rushed the injured to the hospital.
