2 inmates injured during brawl at Lusignan Prison

Two inmates of the Lusignan Prison are now nursing injuries about their body following a brawl at the facility on Sunday evening.
The injured men are Gerald Jones,26, of Middle Walk, Buxton and Kaley Roberts, 26, of Blueberry Hill, Linden.
Police stated that on the day in question about 19:55h, Jones, who is housed in Holding Bay Two, allegedly left his section and went to Holding Bay One in which Roberts was held.
As a result, a heated argument broke out between the two men which quickly escalated into a fight.
Preliminary reports stated that Jones, who was armed with an improvised cutlass, attacked and chopped Roberts to his right hand.
In retaliation, Roberts, who was armed with an improvised ice pick, dealt Jones several stabs to his chest. The duo was extracted from the prison and taken to the infirmary where they were treated, but owing to the seriousness of Roberts’ injuries, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted. His condition is listed as stable.
An investigation has since been launched into the incident.
