Two Lindeners who made their virtual appearances before Linden Magistrate Wanda Fortune were fined for violating the countrywide COVID-19 curfew.
Terrence Godette and Jarriel Crawford were charged for breach of curfew which occurred on April 27, 2020. 
They were both found guilty of the offence following a trial and as such, were ordered to pay $16,000 each. Failure to pay the fines will result in an alternative sentence of 3 months’ imprisonment.
Over 40 persons have since been charged and placed before the Linden Magistrate’s Court as Police in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) continue the crackdown on persons who violate the national curfew and restrictions on social activities put in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This has resulted in fines ranging from as high as $20,000 to $5000. A number of persons found guilty were also sentenced to community service.
