2 NOC escapees jailed for robbery

Two escapees from the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) on the Essequibo Coast were on Thursday sentence to three years imprisonment each for robbery with aggravation. They both made their first appearance before Magistrate Ester Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.
A 16-year-old and 17-year-old – both residents of NOC – admitted to the charge.
The prosecution is contending that the duo was arrested on August 23, 2017 and was later charged with robbery with aggravation committed on Ivelaw Lynch.
Lynch is the second officer in charge of NOC. She was robbed of one BLU cellphone value 00 and one bunch keys value ,000. The robbery occurred on August 20, 2017.
The 16-year-old was placed at the Juvenile Holding Centre until he turns 17 in September after which he will transferred to prison.
