Home News 2 stabbed during wedding house brawl
Two brothers are now nursing injuries about their bodies after they were attacked and brutally stabbed by a group of men at a wedding house at Waterloo Street, Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (WCB) on Saturday evening.
The injured men are 31-year-old Khemraj Jodha and 36-year-old Jaggarnauth Jodha of Bath Settlement, WCB. According to reports, another brother of the two injured men had a misunderstanding with a man whom he claimed slapped him.
He however called out to his brothers who confronted the accused, but they were greeted by four men armed with broken bottles. The younger brother sustained a stab wound to his neck while the other received several wounds about his body.
The injured men were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where they were treated and admitted.The matter was reported to the Police and several persons associated with the perpetrators were detained and questioned. Guyana Times understands that the Police have not received any tangible information that can lead to the arrest of the actual perpetrators.
The Police have taken statements from the injured men and are continuing their investigations. Earlier in the year, Surendra Nauth, 29, of Lot 43 H and J Albion Front, Corentyne was stabbed to death during a wedding house brawl at Albion.
It was reported that on the night of the stabbing, the now dead man and his brother-in-law were involved in an argument at Williamsburg, Corentyne, with a man who had allegedly slashed a tyre of their motor vehicle.
During the argument, the suspect attacked the men with a knife, stabbing Nauth to his abdomen and inflicting a wound to another man. Following the incident, both men were rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where Nauth later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect, who was later arrested, had previous brushes with the law.
