2-year-old died from pneumonia – autopsy

The two-year-old boy of Barima Kariabo, North West District (NWD) who was pronounced dead on Sunday after his mother rushed him to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital in Region One (Barima-Waini) with a high temperature, died from pneumonia.
This has been confirmed by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh, who performed the post mortem on Wednesday.
It was reported that the infant’s mother, Nicole Campbell, had taken him home on February 9, 2021, and at about 16:00h on the said day, the child started to develop a high fever.
The woman said her child’s condition worsened on February 13 at about 23:30h, and he soon after became
motionless. She said she then had rushed him to the Barima Kariabo Health Centre, from where he was immediately taken to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital.
At about noon on Sunday, he was examined by a doctor, who pronounced him dead. The body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
