Two-year-old Orlando Smith of Lower Kaituma, North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini) collapsed and died on Tuesday while playing with his cousin.
Police have since launched an investigation into the child’s death, which occurred about 12:00h.
Reports are the child, who suffered from epilepsy, resided with his 65-year-old grandfather and 60-year-old grandmother. According to Police, on Tuesday, the toddler was playing with his six-year-old cousin in the yard and suddenly collapsed on the ground where he remained motionless. The toddler’s grandmother, who was nearby, picked him up and rushed him to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The body of the toddler is presently at the Mabaruma Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. (G9)
