Home News 2020/2021 applicants must submit documents online – UG
Owing to the restrictions that were implemented amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Guyana (UG) announced that applicants for the 2020/2021 academic year will be required to scan their relevant documents and submit them via email for verification.
The University has commenced registration for the new academic year, and is asking all prospective students who may have registered for the new semester to have their documents scanned and submitted via email address [email protected] where the documents would be temporarily verified.
“On return to physical operations of the University, a second verification will be made of the original/hard copy of these documents,” the University said.
In a release, UG underscored that all payments of application processing fees can be made through Republic Bank Guyana Limited, SurePay, or the Mobile Money Guyana (MMG) system.
“Once payment is made, the receipt should be scanned and emailed to [email protected],” UG said.
These new measures were also disclosed by UG’s Assistant Registrar Sonia Gordon on 104.1 Lite Radio Station on June 8.
Since the outbreak of the deadly virus in Guyana, categories of UG staff and students continued to work via online platforms.
In a subsequent release, UG stated that while essential staff and specified others may return with special permission under strict protocols, a full-fledged return to face-to-face classes was not envisaged at this time.
It also said that staff and students will continue to work online as far as possible during the pandemic until at least the end of the extended Semester 1, July 18, 2020.
“While the situation is still being observed, staff and students are encouraged to frequently check the University’s official communication channels, SRMS, HRMIS and the University’s website for updates,” the institution said.
UG further encouraged that persons take necessary precautions to protect themselves and family.
“We continue to encourage everyone to stay safe and to support the safety of others by following the guidelines of staying home, covering one’s nose, mouth and eyes and maintaining six-feet physical distance from others if they must go out. One must also maintain good nutrition and hygiene by washing hands, feet and parts of the body including garments regularly,” the release stated.
