Welder, father in custody for firearm, stolen items

A 26-year-old welder and his father, both of Lot B&C Coglan Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara (WBD), were on Tuesday arrested after a quantity of items suspected to have been stolen were discovered at their home during a Police exercise.
Police in a statement related that acting on information received, ranks were dispatched to the Pouderoyen house where a search was conducted.

The gun found during the raid

As the Police swooped down on the location, the welder was informed of the search on his premises. However, during the search, ranks observed several parked motorcycles and as such, questioned the welder but he was unable to provide the Police with the names of the owners.
In addition, the Police also questioned the welder’s father, a 55-year-old businessman.
The businessman reportedly handed over a .32 Taurus revolver, claiming that he last renewed his firearm licence back in 2017. As a result, the welder and his father were cautioned and arrested.
The firearm along with the 13 motorcycles and four frames were taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station where they were lodged. Police investigations are ongoing.
