21st annual Middle Pocket Pool Competition set for today

The Middle Pocket Arena, located on Middle Road, La Penitence will once again host the long awaited Middle Pocket Pool Competition today.

The tournament, which is opened to both male and female players, will cue off at 15:00h and continue into the night.

To date, 13 players have already signed up for the competition and organizer of the event, Ravi Ramlall said registration is still open. Players desirous of participating can register by calling 622-3787.

Ramlall revealed that the annual pool competition has been scheduled around his birth anniversary every year for the past 20 years and it’s a tradition that he has kept up by hosting the summer 8-ball pool competition.

Defending Champion, Sunil Mangru will be looking to retain his crown while Brian Urling who won the Independence Day edition is also in contention for top honours.

The winner will cart off a trophy and $40,000, while the second, third and fourth- placed finishers will receive $20,000, $10,000 and 5,000 respectively. All the cash prizes will be accompanied by trophies.

The tournament has received sponsorship from Ansa McAl Trading, Starr Computers, Brian Urling, Romeo and Kumar Sharma and Skipper’s Jewelery.
