Guyanese fashion icon Sonia Noel featured in New York’s

“Fashion Facts & Fantasy”

The 26th anniversary of the Friends of Mustard Seed Communities in New York was recently celebrated in grand style with a multilayered gala, held in the elegant grand ballroom of The New York Hilton, in New York City.
The afternoon started with a silent auction, then moved into a cocktail reception, a lavish three course luncheon, awards presentation, and finished off with an address and update by Reverend Monsignor. noel-2-225x300
In addition, the audience was entertained by the Braata Folk Singers of Jamaica but the event was highlighted with a spectacular fashion show titled `Fashion Facts & Fantasy.’
Guyana’s premier fashion designer Sonia Noel was one of the five featured designers whose creations were showcased on a dramatic multilevelled catwalk.  Noel’s bold and bright tropical colours in yellow, gold, orange and mauve were shown with early tones in the beige and brown family.
There were her signature black and white ensembles and some dramatic cat suits with leopard and tiger print trimmings. The Guyanese designer’s off-shoulder dresses and flowing poncho tops with lattice work ?highlights were a big hit with the appreciative audience.
?Malchijah hats by Marcus Killikelly who is also a Guyanese complimented the fabulous outfits.
Other participating designers were Lane Bryant featuring the new creations of ‘Project Runway alum Christian Siriano, New York based designer Carlton Jones, Pratt Institute Professor Adrienne Jones who showed her ‘Brown Baby’ collection and young Jamaican hip-hop menswear designer David McBean who premiered his ReVlution collection.
