Constructed by Triple F Variety Store, the facility has the capacity to serve about 500 residents in Siriki and New Siriki Sands.
During the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Anthony emphasized that the centre aims to provide primary healthcare services to the Pomeroon area, while adding that the Ministry is committed to expanding and ultimately improving healthcare services nationwide.
“Before, it used to be predominantly MCH services, but we want to extend the service that will offer a wide range of things at these centres…Over the next year or two, we are working to enhance the healthcare services that we can offer countrywide,” he explained.

The minister, further, expressed that the Government aims to provide at least 216 medical interventions at each Health Post throughout Guyana. Additionally, staff will undergo training to offer a wide variety of services in these health posts, ensuring comprehensive care for the community.
The newly-commissioned health centre will play a crucial role in combating chronic and non-communicable diseases. It will provide treatment for patients, and make necessary referrals for tertiary care if and when needed. This will greatly contribute to the overall fight against health challenges in the Pomeroon area.
Regional Health Officer Ranjeev Singh expressed gratitude to the Ministry, while underscoring the impact the initiative will have on the residents in the Siriki district.
Also attending the simple handing-over ceremony were Regional Vice Chairman Humace Oodit; Prime Minister’s Representative Arnold Adams; and Regional Executive Officer Susanah Saywack, among others.
