23 new COVID-19 infections, over 230 active cases being monitored

The number of confirmed coronavirus positives in Guyana is now pegged at 71,005, after 23 new persons were infected as of Tuesday.
This data was included in the Health Ministry’s daily dashboard showing 32,549 males and 38,456 females testing positive to date. Some 69,492 have recovered, leaving more than 750 active cases.
The death toll from the virus has remained at 1278, but three persons are being monitored in the Intensive Care Unit. There are seven persons in institutional isolation, 225 in home isolation and three in institutional quarantine.
To date, 687,557 test samples have been processed.
Some 235 active cases are being monitored, inclusive of 10 in hospitals.
Tuesday’s vaccination figures show that so far, 446,000 or 86.9 per cent of adults have taken a first dose, while some 345,757 or 67.4 per cent of persons are fully vaccinated.
For adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, 35,588 first doses or 48.7 per cent and 26,091 or 35.7 per cent second doses have been administered.
Vaccination for children in the five to 11 category shows 7844 first doses or 7.7 per cent. Only 3105 or three per cent have returned for their second shot. In addition, 72,526 persons have returned for their booster shots thus far.
In the Region of the Americas, that is, Latin America and the Caribbean, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has increased to 175 million while the death toll in the Region has gone up to 2.8 million.
Globally, there are 596 million confirmed positives with 6.4 million deaths.
