Man injured after drunk driver crashes into tree at Mabaruma

A 54-year-old man, who was a passenger in a wagon driven by an intoxicated driver, is now injured after the vehicle crashed into a tree.

The accident occurred at around 13:00hrs on Sunday at Wanina Public Road, Mabaruma, North West District.

The driver, 37-year-old Mitchell Debideen, has been arrested.

Police said the motorcar PNN 1366 was proceeding west along the Wanina Public Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the southern side of the road and collided with a tree.

 

 

 

As a result of the collision, the passenger received injuries to his head.

He was picked up in a conscious condition by police and medical personnel and taken to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted a patient suffering from head injuries.

His condition is listed as stable.
