Plans are already in place to select the best candidate to represent Guyana at the Miss World Pageant in 2020.
Twenty-five out of more than 50 young ladies who sent in applications were sashed on May 26 during a simple ceremony at the Pegasus Hotel.
Out of the 25, three are from the United States of America. They are Jhadee Gordon, Sasha Hughes-Williams and Stacy Sirkissoon. Tia Shepherd, Marlena Jurakan and Alicia Jordan were chosen from the United Kingdom, while Kimberly Adams is from Barbados.
The other delegates are all Guyanese beauties living in Guyana. They are Aliya Wong, Tiffani Bonner, Jamicia McCalman, Gabriella Chapman, Raeshaunna Jones, Danasha Peterson, Brittany Singh, Reshana Khan, Malesha Mackoon, Samantha Stanwick, Celicia Campbell, Ederle Stephen, Ronecca Arjune, Rabeena Hussain, Nasaskeia Kendall, Abeena Gomes, Aaliyah Anthony and Sherzana Munilall.
The organiser, Majesty International, believes that with this new model, the candidate’s journey will be more wholesome with more time to prepare and train to compete on any stage and/or environment geared towards professional growth/development at the end of this journey.
The aim is to improve the quality of every journey and seek better collaboration and partnerships with various stakeholders, including media, Government organisations, civil society organisations, and the academic institutions/communities to build Guyana with role models. More importantly, the aim is to promote better support at the local, regional, national and international levels.
However, the semi-final will be held between January and March 2020, while the grand coronation is set for May 2020.
