25 to receive prestigious Influential Women Leaders Awards for 2022

Twenty-five women have been selected to receive the prestigious Influential Women Leaders Award (IWLA) for 2022. The award is given to remarkable women who have demonstrated a deep commitment to the development of their organisations, agencies, and communities.
It was created by The NICO Consulting, Inc and Cerulean Incorporated to recognise the success of national and regional women leaders. These 25 women have been selected to join the growing network of changemakers. The awards gala will be held on June 18 at the Marriott Hotel, Georgetown.
A press statement from the creators said that the award is hailed as Guyana’s most prestigious accolade to recognise the contributions of female leaders in any sector of the country.

The statement noted that “the 25 Influential Women Leaders Award captures the essence of excellence, extraordinary achievement, and dynamic leadership, distilled in the women who bear the distinction of receiving this honour”. Since 2019, 50 women have received this award and have benefitted from various tailored programmes geared to further their empowerment, intellectual advancement, social growth, and leadership, as well as advance their commitment to community service.
Nominations were opened to the public for a month and nominees were invited to submit details about their journey to an eminent panel of judges in Guyana and in the diaspora.
These include Head Teacher at L’Aventure Secondary School Althea Daniels-Stuart; Head of the Child Care and Protection Agency, Ann Greene; Dr Bibbi Alladin-Karan; Superintendent of Police Cristal Robinson; Dr Ertenisa Hamilton; Founder of the Betterment Brigade Foundation, Francine Wintz; Attorney-at-Law and politician Geeta Chandan-Edmond; Dermatologist Dr Heather Wilson; Miss World Guyana 2019 Joylyn Anita Conway; President of Guyana Pharmacists’ Association Kalawattie Datt-Singh and Dr Latoya Gooding.
Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Specialist Lavonia Springer, entrepreneur Marissa Foster, Mischka White-Griffith, Narda Alia Eletra Mohammed, Dr Natasha France, Special Education teacher Nikoya Alleyne, Reshma Persaud, Sarah Daniels, Shabakie Fernandes, Sharon Allison Alexander, 2020 Chevening scholar Shinelle Bayrd, Dr Susannah Isaacs, Scientist and inventor Tandika Harry, and Wemyss de Florimonte are also part of the Class of 2022.
Through the nominations, the statement noted, over 200 women were thrust into the spotlight of their own achievements for consideration to receive the award this year, and the selection of 2022’s recipients honours the laudable accomplishments of each woman in her field of endeavour.

Beyond the recognition of the day, the 25IWLA honourees will receive the exclusive opportunity to apply for the highly competitive Women’s Leadership Programme (WLP). This programme explores critical areas that include access to networks, leadership and social equity, executive presence, and more, all aimed at building new and strengthened relationships internally and externally.
