Some 286 young people from Leonora Technical & Vocational Training Centre, Lust-en-Rust Community Development Council, and Fellowship Practical Instruction Centre have completed the competency-based training through the Board of Industrial Training (BIT). The participants were awarded during a graduation ceremony hosted at the Leonora Technical & Vocational Training Centre on Friday. The programmes were designed to provide individuals with entry-level skills, expand their employment opportunities, encourage self-employment, and improve their livelihoods. Of the 286 graduates, 51 completed Information Technology, while 60 completed Commercial Food Preparation.
A total of 21 participants graduated from Welding and 48 successfully completed Electrical Installation. In addition, 12 participants completed Masonry, 13 completed Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Repairs, and 19 completed Joinery.
The largest group consisted of 62 graduates who successfully completed the Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator programme. The successful completion of these programmes represents a significant achievement for the graduates, their families, the training institutions, and the BIT.
Through practical, competency-based instruction, the graduates gained valuable skills to help them pursue employment, establish small businesses, and contribute positively to the development of their communities and the wider economy.
