Evans appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that he murdered the 56-year-old businessman during the course or furtherance of a robbery.
Attorney-at-Law Dexter Todd represented the accused while the State was represented by Tuanna Hardy, Tiffini Lyken, and Nafeeza Baig. Twenty-four witnesses are expected to be called during the trial.
Earlier this week, Floyd Rammit, who was jointly charged with Evans for the businessman’s killing, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he admitted to the crime.
Reports in 2015 were that the man was ambushed while tending to his dogs. His body was found by his wife, who had gone to the property after several calls to his phones went unanswered. An autopsy showed that he died as a result of a single stab wound to the chest.
